aitänna77: Tiny Structures Vol. 1
October Man

The short (fourteen minutes) yet ultra-pretty Tiny Structures Vol. 1 EP features five homemade songs created by Spain-based Mikel Martinez (aitänna77). Despite the tunes' brevity, Martinez manages to establish an autumnal mood that's reminiscent of F.S. Blumm's similarly melancholic style. Both artists subtly augment acoustic sounds (vibraphone, piano, melodica) with electronics to conjure a nostalgic ambiance. “Bruno's Piano” conjoins soft electronic patter with simple piano melodies while a melodica's wheeze joins plucked guitars in “Waiting For a Happy-Ending.” Though the EP is primarily reflective in spirit, the closer “Carnival of Souls” springs to attention when chiming strums glisten against galloping rhythms.
