Dinky: Get Lost 3
Crosstown Rebels

Dinky's Get Lost installment—the third in the series, following volumes by Lazarus & Styles and Jamie Jones—is a loose-limbed, eighty-minute set that meanders breezily. A major part of its appeal is the funky hometown vibe Chilean Alejandra Iglesias (aka Dinky, of “Acid in my Fridge” fame and current DJ resident at Berlin's Panorama Bar) brings to the mix's percussion-heavy swing: hand drums take the lead on Gowentgone's percolating “One of These Fusche,” Ricardo Villalobos stokes low-end gumbo during his remix of Innersphere's “Phunk,” and Radio Slave twists “Bell Clap Dance” into fiery Latin swing. The exotic dimension surfaces intermittently, and re-appears near the end with Isolee's remix of Paulo Olarte's “Solu Tu.”

“Lost in the Forest” opens the set peacefully as murmuring male and female voices throw “get” and “lost” back and forth like ping pong balls. The dance mix proper kicks in beautifully with Dinky's funky “Horizontal,” all piano sprinkles, vocal hoots, and grooving beats, before turning minimal with Dan Berkson's moody stormer “The Hollow,” ruminative with the Peace Division remix of Audio Soul Project's “Community,” and psychotropic with Matt O'Brien's bass-heavy “No Reason.” Things definitely tighten up when the deep Loco Dice makeover of Dennis Ferrer's “Son of Raw” arrives, and then brighten for Sonja Moonear's ‘Dans Ma Casbah Mix' of Chica & the Folder's “Souffle.” Dinky coolly rounds out her slinky contribution to the Get Lost catalogue with her own after-hours lullaby “She.”
