Magnum 38: Disco Toni

Magnum 38 (Oliver Greschke) detonates a punky breakbeat bomb with his subterranean 12-inch “Disco Toni.” At its core, the tune's a sleazoid mix of grinding electro synths and tribal percussive beats but Corinna Vidic's alluring vocal portrait of the titular club debauchee lifts it up out of the swamp and towels it down. Not surprisingly, Motor's remix is even heavier, a crushing acidy stomper that, surprisingly, allows lyrics like “Forgot my name, lost my brain / Don't care, Don't care, Don't care” to be heard more clearly than in the original.
